Proverbs 3

The Rewards of Wisdom

1My son, ado not forget my
Or law
teaching,
But let your heart ckeep my commandments;
2For dlength of days and years of life
And peace they will add to you.
3Do not let ekindness and truth leave you;
fBind them around your neck,
gWrite them on the tablet of your heart.
4So you will hfind favor and igood
Lit understanding
repute
In the sight of God and man.
5 kTrust in the Lord with all your heart
And ldo not lean on your own understanding.
6In all your ways macknowledge Him,
And He will nmake your paths straight.
7 oDo not be wise in your own eyes;
pFear the Lord and turn away from evil.
8It will be qhealing to your
Lit navel
body
And srefreshment to your bones.
9 tHonor the Lord from your wealth
And from the ufirst of all your produce;
10So your vbarns will be filled with plenty
And your wvats will overflow with new wine.
11 xMy son, do not reject the
Or instruction
discipline of the Lord
Or loathe His reproof,
12For zwhom the Lord loves He reproves,
Even aaas a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

13 abHow blessed is the man who finds wisdom
And the man who gains understanding.
14For her acprofit is better than the profit of silver
And her gain better than fine gold.
15She is admore precious than
Lit corals
jewels;
And nothing you desire compares with her.

Lit Length of days

agLong life is in her right hand;
In her left hand are ahriches and honor.
17Her aiways are pleasant ways
And all her paths are ajpeace.
18She is a aktree of life to those who take hold of her,
And happy are all who hold her fast.
19The Lord alby wisdom founded the earth,
By understanding He amestablished the heavens.
20By His knowledge the andeeps were broken up
And the aoskies drip with dew.
21My son, aplet them not
Lit depart
vanish from your sight;
Keep sound wisdom and discretion,
22So they will be arlife to your soul
And asadornment to your neck.
23Then you will atwalk in your way securely
And your foot will not austumble.
24When you avlie down, you will not be afraid;
When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
25 awDo not be afraid of sudden fear
Nor of the
Lit storm
,
ayonslaught of the wicked when it comes;
26For the Lord will be
Or at your side
your confidence
And will bakeep your foot from being caught.

27 bbDo not withhold good from
Lit its owners
those to whom it is due,
When it is in your power to do it.
28 bdDo not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back,
And tomorrow I will give it,”
When you have it with you.
29 beDo not devise harm against your neighbor,
While he lives securely beside you.
30 bfDo not contend with a man without cause,
If he has done you no harm.
31 bgDo not envy a man of violence
And do not choose any of his ways.
32For the bhdevious are an abomination to the Lord;
But
Lit His private counsel is
He is bjintimate with the upright.
33The bkcurse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked,
But He blblesses the dwelling of the righteous.
34Though bmHe scoffs at the scoffers,
Yet bnHe gives grace to the afflicted.
35 boThe wise will inherit honor,
But fools
Lit raise high
display dishonor.
